Yuji Itadori is an unusually physically strong high school student living in Sendai. On his deathbed, his grandfather instills in Yuji two powerful messages: "Always help others" and "Die surrounded by people." Yuji's friends in the Occult Club draw the curse to their school when they uncover rotten fingers. Yuji swallows a finger to protect Jujutsu witch Megumi Fushiguro, and becomes host to the powerful curse known as Ryomen Sukuna. Due to Sukuna's evil nature, all magicians are required to banish him (and by extension, Yuji) immediately. However, when he realizes that Yuji retains control of his body, Megumi's teacher Satoru Gozo brings him to his superiors at the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School with a proposal to stop killing Yuji and train under Gozo until he will eat all 20 of Sukuna's fingers so that the curse can Cause them to be rejected.
